2018 MIPS Reporting Deadline Approaching

March 2019 ~

The deadline for physicians to submit data for the 2018 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance period is quickly approaching.

The submission window is currently open and eligible physicians (EP) must submit their Year 2 (2018) of the Quality Payment Program (QPP) measurements no later than Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 8 pm EDT. NOTE: for users submitting data through the CMS Web Interface, the submission period ends on March 22, 2019, 8 pm EDT.

Physicians will need to sign in to their QPP account to update and submit data for PY 2018. EPs should note that, when submitting data, it’s imperative to report as much as possible to avoid a fee schedule reduction in 2020. How EPs performed under MIPS in 2018 could affect Medicare payments in 2020.

EPs that report the minimum amount of data required will not be subject to the reduction on the 2020 fee schedule. EPs that exceed the required measurement reporting may receive an increase in the fee schedule. Those EPs that opt not report or do not meet minimum requirements will receive up to a 5% reduction on the fee schedule.
